Kickserv Review & Pricing: Plans, Costs and Verdict

Kickserv is one of the cheapest ways to put a small crew on real scheduling and invoicing software. It looks and feels older than Jobber or Housecall Pro, and the mobile app is the weak spot.

Our verdict

A solid budget pick for a 2 to 10 person shop that lives in QuickBooks.

Kickserv gives a five-person crew scheduling, estimates, invoicing and QuickBooks sync for $60 a month, which is less than most competitors charge for one user. You give up polish, a strong mobile app and serious reporting. If your techs work mostly from their phones or you want automated follow-ups and marketing, compare it against the other field service management software we cover before you commit.

From $60/mo billed monthly

30-day free trial ยท checked Oct 18, 2026

Kickserv prices by how many people you put on it, and the brackets are generous: $60 a month covers five users, $119 covers ten, and $199 covers twenty, as of October 2026. For a small HVAC, plumbing, appliance or handyman shop that mostly needs jobs on a calendar, estimates turned into invoices, and a clean sync to QuickBooks, that's hard to beat on price. The catch is everything you don't pay for: a dated interface, a phone app that does less than the web version, and thin reporting.

Good fit if you

  • Shops of 2 to 10 people that want per-crew pricing instead of per-seat fees
  • Owners who keep the books in QuickBooks and want jobs and invoices to flow into it
  • Office-driven businesses where one person schedules and techs just need their day's jobs
  • Anyone leaving paper or spreadsheets who wants a 30-day trial with no big setup project

Look elsewhere if you

  • Crews that do quoting, photos and payment collection mostly from a phone
  • Shops that want built-in marketing, review requests and automated follow-ups
  • Owners who need detailed job costing or profit reports by tech

What we like

  • $60/mo covers up to 5 users, so a small crew pays far less than per-seat tools
  • Plan tiers jump by users only, so you don't lose core features on the cheap plan
  • QuickBooks sync is a core feature; only the Desktop integration is listed as a paid add-on
  • Includes customer portal, inventory, time tracking and job photos
  • 30-day free trial, longer than most competitors

Watch out for

  • Owners commonly report the interface looks and feels dated
  • The mobile app does less than the web app, per common user feedback
  • Reporting and automation are basic
  • QuickBooks Desktop integration costs an extra $50/mo
  • Annual price is advertised as 20% off but the exact figure isn't listed

What a real shop pays for Kickserv

Solo owner-operator (1 user)

$60/mo

billed monthly

Start

You pay for five seats whether you use them or not. Still reasonable if you plan to hire, but Jobber Core at $29/mo billed annually is cheaper for a true one-person shop.

5-person shop (owner, office, 3 techs)

$60/mo

billed monthly

Start

This is where Kickserv shines. Annual billing saves 20% per Kickserv. Add $50/mo if you run QuickBooks Desktop instead of Online.

15-person shop

$199/mo

billed monthly

Scale

Run tops out at 10 users, so 15 people puts you on Scale, which covers up to 20. Room to grow without a new bill.

What Kickserv is

Kickserv is web-based field service software for small service businesses: scheduling, dispatch, estimates, invoicing, payments, a customer portal, inventory, time tracking and a mobile app for techs. Its strengths and weaknesses both come from being a plain, office-first tool. The core flow from call to job to invoice to QuickBooks is straightforward. The screens, owners commonly report, feel dated next to newer apps.

It sells to general service trades rather than one niche. HVAC and plumbing shops use it, and so do appliance repair, handyman, pressure washing and small electrical outfits. There's no flat-rate pricebook built around HVAC the way FieldEdge or ServiceTitan handle it, and no route optimization for weekly lawn or pool work. What you get is a clean general-purpose job system at a low price.

Scheduling and dispatch

The office schedules, the techs see their jobs. Kickserv has a calendar and dispatch board where you drag jobs to people, plus recurring jobs for maintenance visits. For a shop where one person answers the phone and books the day, that covers most of it.

What you won't find is much automation around the schedule. Competitors like Jobber and Housecall Pro push "on my way" texts, appointment reminders and follow-up sequences hard. Owners commonly report Kickserv's automation is limited, so plan on doing some of that by hand or skipping it.

Estimates, invoices and QuickBooks

This is the part Kickserv does well. You build an estimate, the customer approves it, it becomes a job, the job becomes an invoice, and the invoice syncs to QuickBooks. For an owner whose bookkeeper lives in QuickBooks, that sync is the main reason to buy any of these tools, and Kickserv treats it as a core feature.

One cost to watch: Kickserv lists QuickBooks Desktop integration at $50 a month. If you're still on Desktop, that's $600 a year on top of the plan, which on the Start plan nearly doubles your cost. Shops on QuickBooks Online should still use the trial to confirm customers, items and payments sync the way their accountant wants.

The customer portal lets clients see estimates and invoices and pay online. Kickserv doesn't publish its card processing rates on the pricing page, so ask for them in writing before you switch payments over.

The mobile app

This is the weak spot. Owners commonly report that the mobile app is less capable than the web app. A tech can see the schedule, open the job and log time, but if your guys build estimates in the driveway, take a dozen photos and collect payment before they leave, test that exact flow during the trial on their phones, not yours.

If your work is office-driven, where the office quotes and invoices and techs mostly show up and do the work, this matters less.

Pricing in plain terms

Kickserv prices by user bracket, not per seat, and every plan includes the core features. As of October 2026:

Plan Monthly price Users included
Start $60/mo Up to 5
Run $119/mo Up to 10
Scale $199/mo Up to 20

Kickserv says annual billing saves 20%. It doesn't print the annual dollar figure, so get it from them before you sign. If the 20% applies straight across, Start would land around $48 a month, but treat that as an estimate until you see the quote.

What this means for real shops:

Shop size Plan Cost (monthly billing) Cost per person
1 person Start $60/mo $60
5 people Start $60/mo $12
10 people Run $119/mo about $12
15 people Scale $199/mo about $13

The value is at five people. A five-person shop pays $60 a month on Kickserv. The same shop on Housecall Pro Essentials pays $149 a month billed annually, and on Jobber Connect with 5 users it's $149 a month billed annually. Those tools do more, especially on mobile and marketing, but that's a big gap for a shop that just needs jobs and invoices.

The value is weaker at one person. You pay for five seats either way, and Jobber Core is $29 a month billed annually for a solo operator.

Watch the bracket jumps. Hiring person number six moves you from $60 to $119. Hiring number eleven moves you to $199. Neither is huge in dollars, but put it in your hiring math.

Extra costs to plan for:

  • QuickBooks Desktop integration: $50 a month.
  • Card processing: not published on the pricing page.
  • Time to clean up your customer list before import. Every system makes you do this, and older data always has duplicates.

The 30-day trial is longer than most. Use all of it.

How to use the 30-day trial

Thirty days is enough to run a real month, so don't spend it clicking around the demo data. A plan that works:

  1. Week one: import and clean. Bring in your customer list and service addresses. Merge the duplicates (there are always duplicates) and set up your common line items so estimates don't get typed from scratch.
  2. Week two: run the schedule in Kickserv only. No whiteboard, no paper backup. If the office can't book and move a full day's jobs without the old system, you'll know fast.
  3. Week three: put the app in your techs' hands. Have them open jobs, log time, add photos and, if they collect payment, take a real card. This is where Kickserv is weakest, so this is the test that matters.
  4. Week four: close the loop with your bookkeeper. Sync a batch of invoices and payments to QuickBooks and have whoever does the books check them. If anything lands in the wrong account or as a duplicate customer, fix the mapping now, before a full month of jobs is in there.

If all four weeks go fine, you've found a cheap system that does the job. If week three falls apart, that tells you whether the money you save is worth the friction in the field.

Where it falls short

  • Looks dated. Owners commonly say so, and it affects how fast a new office hire picks it up.
  • Mobile app lags the web app. A real problem for crews that run their day from the truck.
  • Reporting is basic. You'll see jobs and revenue. You won't get the kind of profit-per-job and tech-performance reporting that ServiceTitan or FieldEdge sell to larger HVAC shops.
  • Light automation and marketing. No built-in review requests or marketing campaigns of the kind Jobber and Housecall Pro offer as add-ons.
  • No trade-specific depth. No HVAC flat-rate pricebook, no route optimization for recurring lawn or pest routes.

Who should look elsewhere

If you're a one-person shop, Jobber Core at $29 a month billed annually costs less and has a stronger app. If your techs quote and collect payment in the field all day, Housecall Pro or Jobber are built for that. If you have 10 or more techs and want unlimited users with more depth, Service Fusion's Starter plan is $208 a month billed annually with unlimited users. Route businesses (pest, pool, lawn) should look at GorillaDesk, which prices per route with unlimited users and includes route optimization.

For a 2 to 10 person shop that runs from the office, keeps its books in QuickBooks and wants to stop paying per seat, Kickserv is a reasonable, cheap choice. Go in knowing what it isn't.

Questions owners ask

How much does Kickserv cost per month?

As of October 2026, Kickserv's Start plan is $60 a month for up to 5 users, Run is $119 for up to 10 users, and Scale is $199 for up to 20 users. Kickserv says you save 20% by paying annually, though it doesn't print the exact annual price. QuickBooks Desktop integration is an extra $50 a month.

Does Kickserv have a free trial?

Yes. Kickserv offers a 30-day free trial, which is longer than the 14 days most competitors give. Use it to run a real week: put every job on the schedule, send a few estimates, convert them to invoices and check that they land in QuickBooks the way your bookkeeper expects.

Is Kickserv good for a one-person business?

It works, but it isn't the cheapest. The Start plan is $60 a month whether you have one user or five. A true solo operator can pay less with Jobber Core at $29 a month billed annually. Kickserv makes more sense once you have two or more people who need logins.

Does Kickserv work with QuickBooks?

Yes, QuickBooks sync is one of its core features. Kickserv lists QuickBooks Desktop integration as a $50-a-month add-on, so if you're still on Desktop, budget for that. Shops on QuickBooks Online should confirm during the trial which records sync and in which direction.

What are the main complaints about Kickserv?

Owners commonly report three things: the interface feels dated, the mobile app can't do everything the web app can, and reporting and automation are limited. None of those stop the basic job-to-invoice flow from working, but they matter more as you add techs who work mainly from a phone.
